The Dewey Stone Kadimah Leadership Development Program:
A lasting legacy
The Dewey Stone Kadimah Leadership Development Program honors the legacy of a quiet but extraordinary hero whose actions helped shape Jewish history and inspire future generations of leadership.
In the 1940s, Brockton businessman Dewey David Stone (z”l) worked behind the scenes to help fulfill the dream of a Jewish homeland. Through his leadership, philanthropy, and personal connections, he supported efforts to bring Holocaust survivors to safety, including helping acquire ships such as the Exodus. He also played an instrumental role in establishing the Weizmann Institute of Science, helping lay the foundation for Israel’s future scientific and technological leadership.
Decades later, his legacy continues through the generosity of the Teplow family, who endowed and named CJP’s young adult (ages 22 to 40) leadership program in his honor. Inspired by Stone’s example of generosity, responsibility, and quiet leadership, the Kadimah program helps cultivate the next generation of leaders in the Greater Boston Jewish community.
Through Kadimah, meaning “forward” in Hebrew, young adults explore what it means to lead in Jewish life today. Participants build leadership skills, deepen their understanding of CJP’s work and the broader Jewish community, and connect with peers who share a commitment to strengthening Jewish life locally and around the world.
More than a leadership program, Kadimah embodies Stone's values: investing in community, taking responsibility, and stepping forward to help shape a stronger future.
